Lasantha Amarasinghe

The Chance Sports Chairman

Lasantha Amarasinghe | The Chance Sports Chairman

Mr. Lasantha Amarasinghe is the owner of The Chance sports. He pursued his education at Isipathana College Colombo. During his Ordinary levels, he joined the CCC Cricket Club while playing cricket. Beginning with division 3 cricket, he progressed to division 2 and division 1. Under the guidance of coach Dooland Buultjens,he played for Nomads initially and later joined CCC in 1988. n division one, Mr. Lasantha played his first-class match at P. Saravanamuttu International cricket Stadium, where he encountered prominent figures in Sri Lanka cricket such as Roy Dias, Chinthaka Edirimanne, Graeme Labrooy, Ashly De Silva, Jerome Jayarathna, Roshan Manahanama, Santh Jayasuriya, and Michel Thisera. Inspired by them, he gained valuable experience and climbed to a prominent position in Sri lanka.

While studying at NIBM and playing for CCC, Mr. Lasantha seized the opportunity to go on a cricket tour to India. Observing the absence of large sports shops in Sri Lanka, he brought back sports equipment and noticed a potential market. This realization led him to establish a small sports shop in 1997 at YMBA Borella Shopping Complex. Kalasuri Arisen Ahubudu provided the Sinhala letter "චා" for naming the shop, and following that, Roy Dias proposed the word "chance." Consequently, the shop was named "Chance Sports."Over the years, Chance Sports has grown to become the largest sports showroom in Southeast Asia.

Mr.Lasantha's business extends globally, with product shipments from England, India, Pakistan, China, and Singapore. The profits from the shop are utilized to assist those in need, particularly children, in the realm of sports. Mr. Lasantha actively supports the sports development at Isipathana College, emphasizing cricket and rugby. Additionally, he contributes to the CCC Club. Beyond his role as a business owner, Mr. Lasantha holds various positions, serving as the president of the YMBA Shop Owners Association, president of the '89 Group of Isipathana College, club house secretary of Lotus Aquatic Club, and sports secretary of Heritage Sports Club. He is dedicated to promoting sports in Sri Lanka, aiming to enhance the skills and intelligence of the younger generation.

The Chance Sports mission extends beyond business success. We focus on nurturing a strong, healthy, and intelligent future generation by providing advice on maintaining a well-balanced life, encompassing health, wealth, and education.
